Xiangjiang River
Xiangjiang River, as the mother river of Hunan Province, the main source of Ocean River, originating from Longmen Boundary in Ocean Ping, Guilin County, Guangxi, and converging with the Irrigation River and Luojiang River near Quanzhou, flows into Hunan Province in the north and passes through Yongzhou, Hengyang, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Changsha, and up to Yueyang, and ultimately converges with the Dongting Lake, with a watershed area of 94,660 square kilometers, and a total length of 856 kilometers.
River basin is an important birthplace of human civilization, and the ecological environment in the basin is the foundation for human activities. The scope of this photo shoot was selected in the Zhuzhou section of the Xiangjiang River Basin, with humanistic landscapes and portraits of residents as the starting point, in an attempt to explore the living environment of the region, the character of the regional groups, and the state of mind of the residents.
The portrait itself contains a variety of elements such as face, physique, and clothing, while the body is actually a carrier that carries many social anthropological parameters about identity, class, upbringing, and so on. When photographing each riverside resident through the camera lens, on the one hand, it shows the state of the other, and on the other hand, it also symbolizes the photographer’s own attachment to the Xiangjiang River and concern for his hometown. The image activity of observing nature and recording society leaves a long-lasting visual memory of the spatial environment, and at the same time dissolves the nostalgia in the heart of the filmmaker invisibly.
